<br />
Now I've worked out how to update my blog via my phone, I may be more consistent.<br />
It's been ages and so much has happened, well work mainly, but also some creativity on the home front.<br />
Garage for Bruce is finished, the door arrived, and he's moved in. One happy camper.<br />
Also I made a quilt for a cousins 40th birthday - batic fabric, loved the colours.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPPh79E2ngaD0vKcpqCl2S90uLeTEanCqRuFRfHF9C405FqCOo7ehlrpv5fEJ6usnCNd7eB4heF3T8Oq2wrNb990Yrd6WXYIL1f_1hxsUAkeSFfkgGJSqv74QF94WXvgql3uFLSfnEhaTr/s1600/IMG_20150606_211314.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPPh79E2ngaD0vKcpqCl2S90uLeTEanCqRuFRfHF9C405FqCOo7ehlrpv5fEJ6usnCNd7eB4heF3T8Oq2wrNb990Yrd6WXYIL1f_1hxsUAkeSFfkgGJSqv74QF94WXvgql3uFLSfnEhaTr/s320/IMG_20150606_211314.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I'm working on hexagons. Feels a bit Christmassy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgobS5-aCYMl7uETXnBJ9GG4BVX1DYceB-3XUkPdEjO8BxqlLJhM68oHR8SJpKojSb1nNwkykEHZe4lTJjR-ykx6UwIYtjNb2HIgdxCnkF3vtXoZ6D_9iPrRvqBwzJuqbYY94COhmEjgs2F/s1600/IMG_20150629_143612.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgobS5-aCYMl7uETXnBJ9GG4BVX1DYceB-3XUkPdEjO8BxqlLJhM68oHR8SJpKojSb1nNwkykEHZe4lTJjR-ykx6UwIYtjNb2HIgdxCnkF3vtXoZ6D_9iPrRvqBwzJuqbYY94COhmEjgs2F/s320/IMG_20150629_143612.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This is fun.<br />
Happy sewing everyone.<br />
Cheers Jennifer<br />

<br />
Big excitement and a big truck delivers, the shed. It was so much fun for the kids to watch a crane lift all the shed parts up and over our gates. The driveway was too narrow to fit the truck inside.<br />
<br />
This is how the yard looked at the beginning of August.<br />

<br />
<br />
I'm enjoying the journey and that is the main thing.<br />
<br />
I'm now up to the last row, it will be five x five, and I think I know how I'll finish it. <br />
I'm thinking of a cream floating border then a border with flying geese and square in a square blocks. I'll then do another cream floater and a final border of the feature fabric which are T Model cars - just one of my husbands hobbies.<br />
<br />
In other news - we are finally getting the new shed. Bobcat has been in for two days and the concrete should be poured by end of this week, all going well. The shed itself is due for delivery and erection mid September - can't wait, it's been a long time plan finally coming to fruition.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing<br />

Then Bruce and the girls harvested our nectarine trees laden with fruit. I thought I would just do two batches, so love my vacola kit inherited from my mother in law a couple of years ago. Just added some lemon juice and peel into each jar with water - no added preservatives.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ended up doing four batches. so 28 bottles later...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
these will be wonderful with yoghurt - we've already taste tested a bottle, while still warm. According to Ruth - yum, so it's a winner.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While these were underway I had the slow cooker on with <a href="http://crockpot365.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/christmas-ham-in-slow-cooker-honey.html" target="_blank">Ham Honey Citrus</a> - a great recipe from Stephanie O'Dea <a href="http://crockpot365.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">'A year of slow cooking'</a> blog. I've done this recipe before, quick and easy to prepare - I just use the small smoked hams, without the bone - big enough to feed eight, so great for two nights. Whipped up a potato salad and girls made a lovely green salad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Will now spend a peaceful evening on the couch doing some hand sewing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's been a great day after a challenging week.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Happy sewing everyone.</div>

I was off work for a few weeks, my options were few due to recovery after surgery. Lay on one side or stand, no strenuous activity - bending or lifting. What's a girl to do...<br />
<br />
Turn this<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjBOVK8dBu5z6fQ3q0ADTgnhHzc2MKWIGxjzPrgvs5bHKV07ocMpmzOXR4nd52W4lcYUjPXQ-69JFjZm65gH5rgCa02OyORH2xknHz8WArUfpZc5PzZqgcuzr6SlBzy79L7u2U02CV2zow/s1600/Celtic+Soltice+fabric+choice.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjBOVK8dBu5z6fQ3q0ADTgnhHzc2MKWIGxjzPrgvs5bHKV07ocMpmzOXR4nd52W4lcYUjPXQ-69JFjZm65gH5rgCa02OyORH2xknHz8WArUfpZc5PzZqgcuzr6SlBzy79L7u2U02CV2zow/s1600/Celtic+Soltice+fabric+choice.jpg" height="180" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Into this. It only shows a five by five layout - all blocks are made to make it seven by seven but couldn't fit it next to the Christmas tree. I'm creating the borders using Bonnie's leader and tail end method while joining the blocks together. Sewing is the slowest part as I can't sit for too long. For those that may look close at the photo, don't panic I also noticed that I had turned a couple of my blocks the wrong way - after a little use of the seam ripper tool, all my pink squares are now heading in the same direction LOL.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhDYA9H1GxVdoP-Kk-myBbEyoFKXa8jzH9dEfipLGHWU7jRASmRlc0YJXvyrHHZ1ji28tbJ8efknsCIQ1MnQ6wxX-nLfpTnaGLefH-lfUcrxsiX4ebCx9dYtvrdnsWi70xcKeVtAKrU6y/s1600/WIN_20140105_014902.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhDYA9H1GxVdoP-Kk-myBbEyoFKXa8jzH9dEfipLGHWU7jRASmRlc0YJXvyrHHZ1ji28tbJ8efknsCIQ1MnQ6wxX-nLfpTnaGLefH-lfUcrxsiX4ebCx9dYtvrdnsWi70xcKeVtAKrU6y/s1600/WIN_20140105_014902.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
I've really enjoyed this mystery quilt "Celtic Solstice" and can't thank <a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Bonnie</a> enough for her generosity and time in putting this out there for all of us to enjoy. I've learnt many new sewing techniques and made many new blocks, I'm usually a square or rectangle person so this has broadened my experience, Thankyou.<br />
<br />
Hopefully I'll have the flimsy finished in time for the link-up in February.<br />
<br />
Take a look at what other colour and layout alternatives people have been doing. They are beautiful and creative - <a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/mystery-monday-link-up-part-6.html" target="_blank">HERE</a><br />
<br />
Happy Sewing<br />

<br />
The gingerbread house has been constructed, just needs some final lolly additions by the girls in the morning.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYZE38SWisTNCJgYYXpWPt_oNq2TWrnJjTzpg_T5vJrFQDpBzYlGnvv5WaBggz2kwy-JUCXMdu_d7ED0SeUSGXptJOqo5PEeBuK8Y5RstonNPum7F3_jH9MdDQ8cHi2-VKSyp-yeZyDvkU/s1600/WIN_20131224_224722.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYZE38SWisTNCJgYYXpWPt_oNq2TWrnJjTzpg_T5vJrFQDpBzYlGnvv5WaBggz2kwy-JUCXMdu_d7ED0SeUSGXptJOqo5PEeBuK8Y5RstonNPum7F3_jH9MdDQ8cHi2-VKSyp-yeZyDvkU/s320/WIN_20131224_224722.JPG" width="179" /></a><br />
The tree is decorated, the gifts are wrapped and Santa and his reindeer have been. All that is left are some carrot tips and bits of gingerbread men.<br />
<br />
The cherubs are all tucked up in bed asleep, safe and sound.<br />
<br />
Now we sleep until awakened by excited little voices in the early morn. I know in years to come I will miss this.<br />
<br />
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year for 2014. May it be full of happy times.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing, JenniferJenniferhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06330418592990248101noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3996710169252205024.post-74361737531852095412013-12-24T09:42:00.001+11:002013-12-24T10:18:29.933+11:00Another finishHappy Christmas Eve - are you out there still running around or resting, all organized and ready for the big day?<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi41_sTmTjcP524yDRQhdGxVxWlKvzuqrZBDFe61oocI10PMMXNSAFLDOjwxTnd2XYUhppi4ZQ6k48dtLfbwsnSC1WOhmdPteCvYAbr4xpl1E55JFcdQewP5Fk9aMTza1aFopBxLeFtLv00/s1600/Johns+Quilt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi41_sTmTjcP524yDRQhdGxVxWlKvzuqrZBDFe61oocI10PMMXNSAFLDOjwxTnd2XYUhppi4ZQ6k48dtLfbwsnSC1WOhmdPteCvYAbr4xpl1E55JFcdQewP5Fk9aMTza1aFopBxLeFtLv00/s320/Johns+Quilt.JPG" width="239" /></a><br />
I had a finish, ready for tomorrow. As usual Anita, of <a href="http://hillsidequilting.com.au/" target="_blank">Hillside Quilting</a>, did a beautiful job of quilting my batik quilt. A gift for my brother and sister-in law in celebration of them both turning 50 this year.<br />
<br />
I presented them with the flimsy earlier this year, but it was a boomerang so that I could get it quilted and bound. <br />
<br />
Amusingly I finished the last stitches while watching the Rocky Horror picture show on TV last night - not exactly sewing related or Christmases.<br />
<br />
Hope you all manage some quiet time over the festive season to get a little sewing in - helps soothe the nerves.<br />
<br />
Merry Christmas to you all, and a safe and Happy New Year. Looking forward to 2014.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing, Jennifer<br />
<br />Jenniferhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06330418592990248101noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3996710169252205024.post-41737895631968310682013-12-20T21:55:00.001+11:002013-12-20T21:56:48.825+11:00Before and after - another milestoneIntentionally, or unintentionally, we never got around to cutting Ruth's hair and a couple of weeks ago she turned nine. My husband and I loved it being long but it was a lot of work for us both to maintain and re-plait each morning.<br />
<br />
So a visit from Diane this afternoon and here is the results ...<br />
<br />
<table border="0"> <tbody>
<tr><td><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxn4dH2S8M9FfMALO3rTqmxxtUEH-1X_oNBrvxeUmFjRVoBtUz3Z5wUWL1cWHkkhCGsPzt_oUwi97s9AuMotxYqLeeq4lMqXvCHTI-zitLSlHf_377U705Vp2dkZWGWefzDHOjp-ytE3NS/s1600/Ruth+Before+20+Dec+2013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxn4dH2S8M9FfMALO3rTqmxxtUEH-1X_oNBrvxeUmFjRVoBtUz3Z5wUWL1cWHkkhCGsPzt_oUwi97s9AuMotxYqLeeq4lMqXvCHTI-zitLSlHf_377U705Vp2dkZWGWefzDHOjp-ytE3NS/s200/Ruth+Before+20+Dec+2013.JPG" /></a></td><td> and after... </td><td><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbgGRtRFNXkH628SKJDv6EYz8vMOyk7y9qg0y0aSGF7Msxj08OpATtn0XjJQ2dprme2PIPbkobEviu53aw2XxRqHlYtcX3Aduc8MUkjbDb1uN6-SilAboFW3OPy10mi1cXfXtALdfHCM1d/s1600/Ruth+After+20+Dec+2013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbgGRtRFNXkH628SKJDv6EYz8vMOyk7y9qg0y0aSGF7Msxj08OpATtn0XjJQ2dprme2PIPbkobEviu53aw2XxRqHlYtcX3Aduc8MUkjbDb1uN6-SilAboFW3OPy10mi1cXfXtALdfHCM1d/s200/Ruth+After+20+Dec+2013.JPG" /></a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And yes she is all smiles, thank goodness, even Grace had a trim. All she wants to do is brush it, and tonight she went to bed without a plait.<br />
<br />
I think I'll go and do some more cutting out. I am doing Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice Mystery quilt. More on that later.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing everyone and I'll see some of you at the NOTYQ Guild Christmas lunch tomorrow.<br />
<br />
Thankyou again Diane - a job well done.<br />

<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsq2kA9Xst4VpF9i6gaZHnnXfQHrxNRWHWJRpzkwAMTtq3lsKl2UEoFr7fgV8hWpbw3nJ5Po5z8bYA4uu7AVxopVNZLsgQOoDNDKsedCx3nYCrUJFs8yHB_hdbSeDFmgk8W39jrdZuyISk/s1600/WIN_20131209_165427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsq2kA9Xst4VpF9i6gaZHnnXfQHrxNRWHWJRpzkwAMTtq3lsKl2UEoFr7fgV8hWpbw3nJ5Po5z8bYA4uu7AVxopVNZLsgQOoDNDKsedCx3nYCrUJFs8yHB_hdbSeDFmgk8W39jrdZuyISk/s320/WIN_20131209_165427.JPG" width="254" /></a>I believe this stitchery is a <a href="http://gailpandesigns.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Gail Pan </a>design which she had on her blog a while ago as a freebie. I just thought it was so cute.<br />
<br />
The little handmade button came from <a href="http://www.feesshabbyshack.bigcartel.com/" target="_blank">Shabby Shack</a>, an online Australian store which has the most gorgeous bits and pieces. I get a daily email from them with some great deals.<br />
<br />
Today my DH and I went to Lilydale to check out a shed, it's finally coming together. So naturally while there we visited the <a href="http://www.stitchnpatch.com.au/" target="_blank">Stitch N Patch </a>shop, I had a lovely browse while the better half took a look across the road in the Antique shop. <br />
<br />
Don't know who got the better deal - I picked up some lovely bits n pieces including the little redwood hanger for this stitchery while DH walked in with 'another' vintage Singer - boy did that cause a few laughs in the shop - I have to admit that it is quite cute.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMfpz9UjpbPbuxibh3G-r3w9xSPvtcs8hkKGrdX1vkQQ3Rp1L39FocaQE1fBAGr5DCQBgm7w0FAv8Zymg3IZeADd97CCP6GsA1SHeREuqoUv7A7kLu2yrbhU1aNFzt1ibHUdOwPBTFeJyZ/s1600/WIN_20131209_180736.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMfpz9UjpbPbuxibh3G-r3w9xSPvtcs8hkKGrdX1vkQQ3Rp1L39FocaQE1fBAGr5DCQBgm7w0FAv8Zymg3IZeADd97CCP6GsA1SHeREuqoUv7A7kLu2yrbhU1aNFzt1ibHUdOwPBTFeJyZ/s320/WIN_20131209_180736.JPG" width="320" /></a>It's an 1881 Singer New Family, basically complete - just missing a bobbin winder and treadle stand, but I'm sure that won't be an issue - which usually means that there is another one already in our possession which will complete it.<br />
<br />
We then had a restful afternoon. I'm tiring easily at the moment.<br />
<br />
Now the girls are decorating the Christmas tree while I relax and listen to some cds of Christmas songs - lovely.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing<br />

Ruth is going into Grade 4 next year and Grace starts Prep. I know we all say it, but, 'Where does the time go?'<br />
<br />
This year I decided I'd do my own Christmas photo, and just love how they turned out. Thanks goes to my Mum for having the tree ready to go, and also to the girls for their patience, just to get the right shot.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvHHMVcyhe0Od1P27A-UxuJHN3yODb7p6nc7p5jAtlkGEI2Wb3QwSvR3sRA7W1jaeUbxfoWElCJ13yom4ArmQ1ZrBoa_-z_0BFbT4xdqKGZ1PKKYTlP3EXAsjuF2pfrllQs3RsHBJn2dtU/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvHHMVcyhe0Od1P27A-UxuJHN3yODb7p6nc7p5jAtlkGEI2Wb3QwSvR3sRA7W1jaeUbxfoWElCJ13yom4ArmQ1ZrBoa_-z_0BFbT4xdqKGZ1PKKYTlP3EXAsjuF2pfrllQs3RsHBJn2dtU/s320/photo.JPG" width="320" /></a>Another milestone this year was Bruce turning 50. I had intentions of making him a lovely quilt. It's still more like a table runner LOL. Maybe it will be finished for his 60th. Oh well, it is my favourite take along project.<br />
<br />
Well what is a girl to do if one present doesn't go to plan - buy the next best thing - yep, I bought him a 1949 FX Holden, and today we spent a lovely day in the Yarra ranges having a quiet picnic with the girls. Perfect weather - I'm now a little tired and sore, as I'd had surgery earlier this week, and will now need to rest some more, had thought the fresh air and sunshine might help.<br />
<br />
Well I hope I can blog again before Christmas, if not please have a safe and happy Christmas, sneak a little sewing in and I will catch up in the New Year.<br />
<br />
Happy in sewing, Jennifer<br />

Though they say rain on the weekend.<br />
<br />
My garden has some beautiful flowers in bloom and the orange tree is laden with yummy fruit - it's a good crop this year.<br />

Ruth has also been busy on her Show Quilt - here she is being watched over by Zoe the cat, who has taken a liking to sitting/sleeping on the sewing machine - a bit frustrating when she switches on the bobbin winder. </div>

Also has a tendency to fall off, if you get a speed up - so you have to take it carefully. Funny though when it happens.</div>

poles can happen in the middle of winter with children too.</div>

<br />
Though of late I have been busy - more on that later - hopefully.<br />
<br />
First of all and most importantly - A HUGE thankyou to Maddy of "<a href="http://maddyquilter.blogspot.com.au/">Woomba Woomba</a>". It was fantastic to catch up last week at the annual <a href="http://notyq.blogspot.com/">NOTYQ Guild</a> Retreat and spend four days with you.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibx8NreFXFlNkXq8WeCEdqcGg8fjTPGvBtA7IrrfHHLk2JLkRt6jyo7EqgkE9wm0KnNPKeZCrCSviu-Rs5pXnJvrzdcNCShr1oyp01iwXuNWoHxt7K23stRn1kyYZSQdKkSklg7hR41U9-/s1600/snakes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibx8NreFXFlNkXq8WeCEdqcGg8fjTPGvBtA7IrrfHHLk2JLkRt6jyo7EqgkE9wm0KnNPKeZCrCSviu-Rs5pXnJvrzdcNCShr1oyp01iwXuNWoHxt7K23stRn1kyYZSQdKkSklg7hR41U9-/s320/snakes.jpg" width="320" /></a>The girl's think you are Number 1 - we have been playing snakes and ladders all week - we are all in on the act, trying to beat Grace. She is canny though - moves up the rows instead of across, got to watch her.<br />
<br />
The quilt is fantastic Maddy - the following image is stolen from your site, just to show others how talented you are. It's a great idea and we are all having a lot of fun out of it.<br />
<br />
I actually managed to finish two quilt tops and a scarf over the weekend, but I'll post about those later - not as late as this has been, promise. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Thanks Maddy also for the knitted slippers - the girls tried to get them too, but I've been wearing them, even at night so they haven't had a chance.<br />
<br />
Will get a photo of those too and put them up here - they are great.<br />
<br />
It was lovely to see you Maddy and look forward to your next visit.<br />
<br />
Cheers Jennifer<br />

Lots of things are happening, it just seems that the daily job "which pays for the crafting" is getting in the way, LOL.<br />
<br />
Anyway - here's an achievement - I've finished the first row of Bruce's quilt - I'm quite pleased with the effect, and enjoying the process immensely - there is something very calming about hand piecing.<br />

However with just a little over 12 months before the big birthday, I'm getting a little worried that it may not be finished in time. Time will tell.<br />
<br />
Huge hugs and thanks to Maddy of "<a href="http://maddyquilter.blogspot.com.au/">Woomba Woomba</a>" for making these beautiful gifts for Grace and Ruth. Two beautiful pillowcases, two treasure bags - now with all sorts of things in them and the beautiful journal cover which Ruth is writing all her "secrets" in. They were absolutely delighted in receiving a parcel in the post, just for them. Two happy girls. <br />

Also one happy Mum - thankyou for the lovely scarf, it has been
commented on by all at work - and keeps my neck nice and warm on the bus
trip in. Thankyou, and I'm sure all the NOTYQ girls agree, that we missed you at Retreat - hopefully you can visit next year.<br />
<br />
Happy sewing, and I hope it won't be another 8 months before I blog again<br />

Also there to help roll the pasta through the machine - here was what was left to dry and use another day. Not a very glamorous picture of me but it does show that I do spend some time in the kitchen covered in flour. Fun, Fun, Fun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH8S1xtabF0xSfsox-BKLMxjatdo4mp0sm0o8xdWFOpI8ma9FTjoQ1hLxINtR2_5MaRHVB8ou4_2TM3fBnbMht4omR4u5yH8r_AS1DuXJyOUpzqYj1Kzw1v_TO25LxO21s6zJ9rqYGIPs6/s1600/Bali+pop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="90" nfa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH8S1xtabF0xSfsox-BKLMxjatdo4mp0sm0o8xdWFOpI8ma9FTjoQ1hLxINtR2_5MaRHVB8ou4_2TM3fBnbMht4omR4u5yH8r_AS1DuXJyOUpzqYj1Kzw1v_TO25LxO21s6zJ9rqYGIPs6/s200/Bali+pop.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>Then when I have proven to the family that I can do some domestics, I couldn't help but layout a bali pop I'd just purchased - just to see the gorgeous range of colours - beautiful and to start imagining what I can do with them. My friend Christine did a lovely green quilt lately with a 60 degree ruler - just loved the affect, <a href="http://macdonaldspatch.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-machines-no-longer-feeling-neglected.html">take a look at this on her blog</a>. So I got to and started sewing in groups of three...<br />
Then late into the night - cut, cut, cut and of course then the girls helped me with the design<br />

It's been a long time since I've been able to have the machine out, and not be fiddled with - having more issues with Zoe the cat - wanting to attack the thread or sleep just behind the needle... <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Red Robins for Christmas by Gail Pan</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>Or am I just late....LOL<br />
<br />
I found this gorgeous stitchery pattern "<a href="http://gailpandesigns.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341bf9a853ef0162fd34a504970d-pi">Red Robins for Christmas 2011</a>" on Gail Pan's blog site "<a href="http://gailpandesigns.typepad.com/my_weblog/">Gail Pan Designs</a>" before New Year. <br />
<br />
I just can't believe I've actually completed it. As my quilting friends know, I have a slight love for <a href="http://cottagegardenthreads.typepad.com/">Cottage Garden Threads</a> - so used No 502 - Hippeastrum to do this stitchery, it felt christmasy, I think I'll do a red on white or white on red would be lovely too.<br />
<br />
I now just need to decide whether it should be a wall hanging, front of a bag or journal cover. Any thoughts?<br />
<br />
Now I'm ahead for Christmas pressies - hopefully I can keep up with something a month.<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing<br />

The idea was to take advantage of our extra sewing day in March.<br />
<br />
This idea has been brewing for a few years, and personally I'd like to take the opportunity of some more time with Ruth and the sewing machine.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The concept is to prepare a project, based on the child's level of skill - and only you would know this. </div><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxKWhv7yhjPdcR5h05E2iUG8N_eJT1NqsBH5ep09mIPs3yOrtqM-umWK0SMcNZn3Yq_u93NiMA_VmbROYlQgh2qsVMYZUq5gsf0bguzFs-PU02QWe1kgBVYRajfzFTlte77_A5GCg_Tior/s1600/Totebag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxKWhv7yhjPdcR5h05E2iUG8N_eJT1NqsBH5ep09mIPs3yOrtqM-umWK0SMcNZn3Yq_u93NiMA_VmbROYlQgh2qsVMYZUq5gsf0bguzFs-PU02QWe1kgBVYRajfzFTlte77_A5GCg_Tior/s200/Totebag.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Image courtesy of Stumbles and Stitches Blog</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I personally will be aiming to do the following project with Ruth - while there is a bit of top stitching involved, it is relatively straight forward, and obviously I am there to assist her. It is a <a href="http://stumblesandstitches.blogspot.com/2011/09/tutorial-roll-up-tote-bag.html">reversible roll-up tote bag</a>.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I also think it is achieveable in the day, if cutting out is done before hand.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I'd love feedback on this tutorial that I found on the Internet - Jenny from "<a href="http://stumblesandstitches.blogspot.com/">Stumbles and Stitches</a>" has some wonderful patterns, and this one caught my eye. Ruth is only 7, but I think it's a good starter, she has done some sewing - a bag made from a tea towel - see an <a href="http://csorbafamily.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-daughters-first-timeand-only-five.html">earlier post</a> from when she was 5.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I'm hoping there is enough interest from the group - if not I'm happy to do it with Ruth, in March, anyway.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Are there other patterns you could recommend? Especially if you feel I'm overextending Ruth's abilities with this one - I don't want to turn her off sewing ;-)</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Happy sewing,</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Jennifer</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

</tbody></table> <div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">A dear friend had a little girl, late August. Once I knew she was expecting, I got to and designed what I thought was going to be another cot quilt for the year.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Well fellow quilters, the best laid plans turn to other ideas as they develop and so here is the result. A little square mat for Chloe to lay on, roll on and eventually crawl on. Hopefully one day it will be a small lap quilt to snuggle under in front of the TV.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">It started as a small drawing in my sketch book, which was then blown up on the photocopier. My darling daughter then coloured in the mane on the lion - thus the multicoloured mane was born. I machine appliqued the pieces on to batting with lovely <a href="http://www.aurifil.com/Aurifil/Home.html">Aurifil threads</a>, then used monofilament to machine it down on to the green background. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Thanks to the ladies at <a href="http://notyq.blogspot.com/">NOTYQ Guild</a> for their guidance with the colours around the border, matching the threads and special thanks to Claire for helping me incorporate Chloe's name on the corner. Made it so easy to quilt.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I hope it get's lots of use and love.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<br />
I used a lovely jelly roll - this fabric I also used to make a skirt for my number one daughter.<br />
<br />
I then used some pre-shaped butterflies, all I had to do was iron them on to some lovely fabric and on to the quilt top. <br />
<br />
I used a pre-printed quilt fabric, so all I had to do was follow the lines, lots of fun and less stress.<br />
<br />
I enjoyed the whole process of this small quilt - I hope she loves it as much as I do.<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing<br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Thought I'd show a cot quilt I made a couple of months ago - and only now getting around to posting it. I found this wonderful fabric range at Spotlight - it was a big choice between this and some pirate/nautical themed fabric as this was for a gorgeous little baby boy.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Well I chose the hot air balloons - certainly something slightly different. A very easy quilt design, just fussy cut the balloons and used the other themed fabric for borders. Mum helped me to put the binding on and gave advice on the quilting itself.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

</tbody></table>Since making the clothing and the handbag, I've now started on a Double Wedding Ring quilt for my DH's significant birthday in a couple of years.<br />
<br />
Yes, I need that long to hand piece and hopefully hand quilt this for him. Here is ring number 1 - just wanted to test the colours and test that the rings will be round. It is looking very promising. I have not yet pressed it with an iron<br />
<br />
This is not going to be one of those lovely floral colourwash Double Wedding Rings - maybe one day I'll make one for myself ;-)<br />
<br />
I'd love to hear your comments.<br />
<br />
Happy in sewing<br />

<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0JHFyy8nUjE8YjMdTtgPiDX41qkecOk4AVj-B0urnFDnm-izgXB_b1P1XbzeBzNOn5kKa_0umOWfduDZI7oNDdiiuePtq-Nnysp92kqAO55la8MVe6huP3ND_NrYu0TzukxngC7KrtPU/s1600/handbag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0JHFyy8nUjE8YjMdTtgPiDX41qkecOk4AVj-B0urnFDnm-izgXB_b1P1XbzeBzNOn5kKa_0umOWfduDZI7oNDdiiuePtq-Nnysp92kqAO55la8MVe6huP3ND_NrYu0TzukxngC7KrtPU/s200/handbag.jpg" width="192" /></a> So what do you do with "that much fabric" - well of course clothing for DH and DD1 and DD2. They were all proud to show off their new outfits.<br />
<br />
Naturally I didn't wish to feel left out so I designed myself a "rally handbag" - measuring my purse and wanting external pockets on both sides for our mobile phones - it has worked a treat - I think I could have sold a few of these on the last rally, amazing. <br />
<br />
Now for the leftover - well DH has a significant birthday in a few years time so I have time to put together a lovely handmade quilt. I'll keep you posted to it's developments.<br />
<br />

<br />
Here are my gorgeous daughters 1 and 2 ready for school and creche. Hats on and ready to go - even a flower for the teacher, if it makes it there.<br />
<br />
<br />
Hope everyone else has had a successful start to the school year. Now on with some sewing - hopefully :-)<br />
